While Dorman David had no direct affiliation with this sale, Robert E. Davis did acquire much of his material from David. Wholesale looting of Texas State Archives were rampant during this period, and many of the forgeries David created were made from originals originating from these archives. Forty-two lots from the Davis sale appeared to have been stolen from Texas institutions.1
